“In his autobiography, Ignatius refers to himself as "the pilgrim." Pilgrims are not wanderers, vagrants, or aimless travellers; pilgrims have a set destination, though the roads may be many and varied in getting to the destination. For Ignatius, the spiritual life is a true pilgrimage and requires not a map but a "way of proceeding" to get to the Destination.”

On ‘The Way’ – Retreat in Daily Life

This retreat offers you an opportunity to walk with your own experience of life, to reflect with God who companions you and to discern the movements of the Spirit calling you onward in your everyday experience.

Path 1 - Walking with God's Love

Path 2 - Walking with God in Creation

Path 3 - Walking with Jesus

Path 4 - Walking with the Spirit

What is a Retreat in Daily Life?

A Retreat is simply a sustained period of time given over to deepening your journey with God. It can bring a breath of fresh air into the stalemate of an interrupted journey, and it can release new energy to keep you going and growing.

A Retreat in Daily Life offers the opportunity to participate in an Ignatian Retreat process that occurs within one’s daily life. The format of the Retreat incorporates both time for daily individual prayer (at a time convenient to each person) and regular opportunities to meet with others and/or a Spiritual Director.

Based on the dynamic of the Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius, the retreat process incorporates the Ignatian tools of the Awareness Examen, Contemplative Prayer and the Art of Ignatian Discernment.  As part of the retreat, you are also encouraged to take a gentle, meditative walk each day, and a walking meditation on the theme of each week is provided. The art of walking and the wisdom of the physical body will become another vehicle for prayer and reflection.

What is required of me?

To participate in this retreat, you will be asked to:

  • Find 20-30 minutes of quiet reflection & prayer time four-five times a week.

  • Meet with others making the retreat via Zoom, along with a Spiritual Director who will guide the process once a week.

The retreat will be conducted within the context of your everyday life. There is no need to make any drastic change to your routine except for the above commitments to prayer and meetings with your small group.

Who is it for?

This Retreat would suit those people who are seeking to learn more about Ignatian Spirituality, those who wish to deepen their experience of the Ignatian Way and to incorporate the tools it offers, to encounter God in everyday life.
