The Spiritual Exercises of St Ignatius
A 32-Week Retreat in Daily Life with
Individual Spiritual Direction
“Ignatius discovered that God can be found in all things, in all events, in every moment. Learning to listen to the movements of his heart, he was led to a profound faith in Jesus, and he invited others to journey along the path he trod. Generations later we call this path ‘Ignatian Spirituality’. It is a pilgrim’s path, a way that respects each one’s life journey, but profoundly challenges the pilgrim to hear, to decide and to journey onwards.”
Fr Steve Curtin SJ
The Full Spiritual Exercises…
Is a month-long journey that enables a person to grow in freedom so that they may better choose what leads to God’s deepening life unfolding in them for the world. They are a way for contemporary people to seek and find God in their workplaces, homes, families, and community.
The Spiritual Exercises grew out of Ignatius Loyola’s personal experience as a lay person seeking to grow in union with God and to discern where and how God was leading him. There are two ways of experiencing the Full Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. Either by making a 30-day enclosed retreat or by making the retreat in the flow of daily life (19th Annotation retreat).
Both can be very profound and life changing experiences according to the needs and generosity of the individual.
Who is it for?
The full Spiritual Exercises Retreat is open to all people who are seeking to deepen their relationship with God. It offers a unique opportunity to listen more deeply to the desires of your own heart and to experience the foundation of our Ignatian Way for living.
What is required of me?
To participate in this retreat, you will be asked to:
-
Find 30-40 minutes of quiet reflection & prayer time five times a week (Mon-Friday)
-
Meet with their Spiritual Director once a week.
The retreat will be conducted within the context of your everyday life. There is no need to make any drastic change to your routine except for the above commitments to prayer and meet with your Director.
What is a Retreat in Daily Life?
A Retreat is simply a sustained period of time given over to deepening your journey with God. It can bring a breath of fresh air into the stalemate of an interrupted journey, and it can release new energy to keep you going and growing.
A Retreat in Daily Life offers the opportunity to participate in an Ignatian Retreat process that occurs within one’s daily life. The format of the Retreat incorporates both time for daily individual prayer (at a time convenient to each person) and regular opportunities to meet with others and/or a Spiritual Director.
Duration: 34 Weeks. (approximately)
Meeting: Once a week for spiritual direction.
Where: Via Zoom.
Cost: $85 per session
